Australia Baked beans taste test compared to those in the UK

Summary

Basically Australia baked beans taste different to baked beans back in the UK. We tried many super market versions and other brands and all tasted different with a more bbq like flavour. Maybe a little bit like Branstons baked beans from the UK so if you prefer these you may be in luck.  Like back in the UK there are loads of different brands of beans you can try so would recommend trying them all for yourself. We found the Heinz 'English recipe' to taste just like Heinz baked beans back in the UK, which i guess is no surprise. The only problem is that they are not the cheapest especially when not on offer. Even the basic Heinz tasted more like the UK version than many other brands we tried. spc baked beans is probably the next closest.

Anyway try the OZ versions to make up you own mind but if not to your taste head for the Heinz or Heinz 'English recipe' version. Bit of a strange recommendation as we never bought Heinz back in the UK.

Full details about baked beans in OZ

Well I didn't think my first post would be about baked beans but it seems finding baked beans that taste like those back in the UK is actually a tricky task. I'm not even a massive baked bean fan and don't mind the Oz version but my daughter initially refused to eat them and she is generally a very un-fussy three year old. They do taste different though with a more BBQ flavour.

A few days later we found a shop that sold Heinz baked beans and not only that they sold a version with the words 'English recipe' written on them so we purchase a can of each.

Quick tip: After trying many different brands of baked beans i am now struggling to taste as much of a difference. So maybe that's the way to go, try them all you will get used to the new taste and will be able to just buy the cheapest home brands from woolies, coles and aldi.
