Today we went on a trip to the Angthong national park which is a collection of 40 or so islands off the north west cost of Koh Samui. They sell trips to here all over the place in Chaweng, Lamai, Bo Phut etc and it is worth going into a few different tour agents to compare prices before you make your booking.
The islands are about 1 hour away from Koh Samui via a speed boat ride. Our first stop was on the trip was to an island called Mae Koh island which had a fantastic view point. There was a bit of a climb up some steps to get to the viewpoint but well worth the climb.
Next on the agenda was a spot of kayaking, we all jumped into a kayak (2 people in each) and set off on a tour lead by the guide. First off round an small island and then under a cave formation before returning back to the beach.
Once back on the beach it was time for lunch and a spot of sunbathing. Lunch was really nice, various Thai curry type dishes, rice, veg etc.
It was then time to get back on the boat to go and do a bit of snorkelling, although it was a bit of a right off as the weather was too rough. We were essentially sticking our heads in a dirty pond so could not really see anything;(. Despite this the islands and the day was really nice and definitely worth seeing!
When we got back to Koh Samui it was time to do a bit of elephant trekking which was amazing! When we first got there, there was a baby elephant just inside the entrance dancing to some dance tunes!! We bought a basket of bananas for 60 baht (about £1.20) and took it in turns to feed him, it was pretty cool!!! Then it was time to get on the elephant and go on a little trek, it was pretty cool, although a little scary when it came to going down slopes!! While we were on our way round the guy who was riding the elephant made us both a ring and star necklace out of leaves, they were pretty cool!!
