Day trip around Ko Phi Phi Islands

Today we would finally make it to the Ko phi phi islands! whoop!

It’s an early start as we get picked up about 7.15 am to be taken to the port to get our speedboat which leaves about 9 am.

First stop is Maya Bay (where The Beach was filmed) we arrive at about 10.30 am and was kind of expecting a secluded white sandy beach with crystal clear waters. Well, the sand was white and the water clear but it was the busiest beach I had ever seen and the bay was full of speedboats! It was just mental and kind of ruined the experience to be honest!

Next stop was Viking cave, which we only saw from the boat. It got its name because Vikings settled in the cave and they left some drawings in the cave. It is now used by the locals to collect nests for their famous bird’s nest soup. The birds basically make nests out of their own saliva and it is these nest that gets used in the soup. Sounds discussing but never tried it and these things sell for a fortune. Not really surprising once you see where they have to get them from.

Next stop was feeding the monkeys. Again we only did this from the boat as they are wild monkeys, so we threw them bananas from the boat, which was pretty cool as we got so close!

Then it was time for some snorkeling just off Tonsai bay. It was pretty cool, the water was crystal clear and got to see a few different types of fish. The guys running the tour kept throwing bread into the water so more fish would come!! We had about half an hour snorkeling then it was time for lunch on Phi Phi Don island at Tonsai Bay.

We had about an hour and a half for lunch and to have a little look around phi phi. Lunch was really nice, there was a choice of spag Bol, rice, veg, fish soup, battered fish, and fruit! After lunch, we had a little wander around phi phi. Its an amazing and lovely island with white sandy beaches and crystal clear water also has a good selection of bars, restaurants, and shops! We just didn’t have enough time to explore it properly.

So it was time to get back on the boat and head for Khai island which would take us about 45 mins. We had two hours to spend here how we wanted. It was quite a small island with just a couple of bars but it was really nice. We had a little walk round then decided to have some homemade ice cream before heading to do some snorkeling. The snorkeling was pretty cool as we saw loads of different types of fish! Before we knew it, it was time to get back on the boat and head back:-((

What an amazing(but tiring) day!!
