Breakfast in the bamboo house was really nice, eggs bacon fresh rice noodles fried potato, fresh juice, etc etc. We also find spot on restaurant Sweet and Sour Karon but i will get onto this in a minute.
Today is our first day in Karon and we make the most of the sunshine and spend a few hours on the beach (Strange that after leaving Krabi we get sunshine instantly, maybe it just rains in Krabi). The sun seems so strong here, we are still putting factor 50 on and you can feel it starting to burn within half an hour or even less. Just means you have to cool off in the sea quite a lot.
Later in afternoon we decide to walk towards Kata but gave up about halfway, just past the Hilton hotel. Mainly because we decide even if we make it, it will be too late to do much there anyway. Perfectly walk-able though. We then find out from one of the information places that there is a bus that runs between Kata, Karon and Phuket centre. Doesn''t go to Patong though, but not really sure why. You have to get the bus to Phuket centre then a different bus from there to Patong or just get a taxi. Anyway I will cover this in another post.
Didn’t really do too much else apart from find a really nice restaurant called Sweet and Sour! This is just a basic looking restaurant on the main strip. Turn left out of bamboo house and it’s along the road on the right. This place is fantastic, staff were so friendly, the food is really nice and it is so cheap. Even without any 20% off offers it was still amazing value. But even though it was cheap there was no reduction in quality, spring rolls were something like 50 baht but as good as any we have had, the prawns in tempura were spot on! Rice, pad thai and curry good was lovely. There is also a free salad/ fruit bar which you can help yourself too. Even the drink was really good value and could get a large bottle of Chang for 90 baht which was as cheap as anywhere but it also came with a free small bottle of Chang for free! Amazing!!
