Koh Samui moped journey take 2!!!

elephant rockWe enjoyed the first trip around Koh Samui that fun that we decided to hire a moped for a second day. We obviously didn’t get to see everything the first time so we set off to see some of the other side the island had to offer. That was the plan anyway, didn’t quite got to plan initially as we first set off to try and find Buddha’s foot print. But find it we could not, think we must have turned up every single road/track in the area it was supposed to be but could not seem to find it anywhere, oh well maybe next time!

After giving up on Buddha’s footprint we stumbled across a place called heaven/love garden which was a nice waterfall with a view point at the top of a cliff. Bit of a steep(ish) climb up path but a decent view through the trees at the top.

We then drove past the elephant rock which was a big rock next to the road, it didn’t really look like an elephant though. There is a restaurant/café on the road next to it which we decided to stop in for a quick drink. It is called the big rock café so they obviously don’t even think it looks like an elephant:-). The Café is really nice actually and menu looks good, not too badly priced either. Curry for 150 baht and coke for 20 baht.

Set off from here and about 2 minutes later the heavens opened and it started raining! Typical couldn’t have rained while we were in the restaurant could it, anyway we carried on driving until we came to an indoor shopping centre. By which time it had stopped raining but decided to go in anyway. After a quick look around here we decided we should start to make tracks before it rained again….yep you have guessed it 2 minutes down the road it started raining again:-). We managed to make it to Bo Phut fisherman’s village, this time we came in from the opposite side from last time and couldn’t find anywhere to park. It then started to really rain heavy so had to quickly find some shelter by the side of the road. After a few failed attempts at trying to find somewhere to park in between the rain showers we finally parked up and decided to get something to eat while the rain past. The restaurant/pub was called the Frog and Geko. This was a nice little place, nothing too fancy but next to the beach where you can sit with a view of the ocean. More of UK/USA bar type food but also does Thai curry, rice etc. Not bad price either see below for snap shot:

Chicken green curry (150 baht)
Rice (30 baht)
Very nice chicken fried rice (130 baht)
Burger and chips (270 baht)
Chang beer (70 baht)
Coke (50 baht)

By the time we left the fisherman’s village it was getting late so quickly went to the main area we were trying to see today only to find there was absolutely nothing there apart from a few hotels and a load more being built;(. After this we decided to head back to where we knew, good old chaweng where we decided to have a wander round the shops and have a few drinks in Bondi. We then headed back to a little village just down from the hotel to have a meal at a little restaurant that had a little waterfall and lots of turtles!
