Lamai is basically a much smaller version of chaweng with a strip of shops and a stretch of beach running parallel to it. We got there early in the morning and it was quite quiet and stayed like that most of the day. It did get a bit busier at about 4/5pm when the night market started setting up but nothing compared to chaweng!
Lamai also has a really nice beach and similar shops to chaweng but does not have the quantity or sometimes quality with regards to some items. This is not always a bad thing though as means u are asked if you want to by a suit a lot less often;) There also wasn’t the variety of restaurants you find in chaweng either, although there was a few that did traditional Thai food very cheaply(65 baht). We did try one if these called Asador BBQ which actually has a few places in chaweng as well and it was very nice! I would say if you want somewhere that is alot quieter then this may be the place for you but if you want more bars, resturants and nightlife then chaweng is probably the place for you!
