Today we left Phuket at 10 and arrived at Singapore airport at 1 pm ( 2 hours flying plus an hour time difference). Unfortunately, flight out of here to Perth wasn’t until 10:30 so had a few hours to kill.
First had some lunch and then after checking our bags in decided to go through to the departure section and see what was here. After a quick look round the shops and restaurants, we had a bit of a surf on the free PC’s that are dotted about the place. These PC’s also had a bit of information about the airport and it turns out if we hadn’t come through to arrivals we could have gone on a free tour around Singapore ;(.
Oh well, we then found out that there was loads of stuff to see and do at terminals 2 and 3 like a butterfly garden, koi ponds, gaming lounge, movie theatre etc there was also tonnes more restaurants, bars, cafes etc. We were at terminal 1 which didn’t have as many but did have a cactus garden so feeling a bit disappointed set off to find this. This was pretty cool, it was basically an outdoor smoking area with a bar and loads of cacti. After a Singapore coffee forgot what they are called now (kpoi) we messed around on the wifi for a bit until I noticed a sign saying terminal 1 and 2!!!
Getting around Singapore airport
…Hmm turns out you can just get the sky train within departures and visit all the departure lounges of each terminal. So basically that’s what we did, a tour of everything at Singapore airport and believe me there’s loads, as well as all the stuff already mentioned there’s a sunflower garden, free electronic foot massages scattered about, statues, orchid garden, music pods, big sports screen, communication stations dedicated to Skype and other VoIP services. Plus loads of other stuff. Needless to say, we found plenty to do, also had tea in a bar in terminal 3 before returning to 1 for boarding! Next stop Perth, although I am sad to be leaving Thailand, at least it’s not to get home yet!
