On July 12, 1979, Carmine Galante was assassinated just as he finished eating lunch on an open patio at Joe and Mary's Italian-American Restaurant in Brooklyn. I also look extensively at Galante's criminal career beginning with the murder of anti-Fascist editor, publish Carmine R. "Carm" Galante Jr., 52, of Harmar, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2016. It was clear Carmine wanted it all and it prompted other leaders within the NY Mafia to act. Arson and decay have ravaged much of the Bushwick area in recent years, however. Galante took control of the Bonannos in a swift coup dtat. By the end of the decade, he was a leading enforcer in the mob, and, by 1931, the doctors had diagnosed him with having a psychopathic personality.
